President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved the admission quotas for the 2019-2020 academic year.
The total admission quota increased by almost 8,500 students from 78701 (on a grant basis - 19725, on a paid contract basis - 58976) to 87165 (19240, 67925).
There will be 1,714 more students enrolled in full-time undergraduate departments 69460 (last year 67746), including 1,769 (18154) on grant basis and 51791 (49592) on contract basis.
The graduate admission quota increased by almost 1,000 to 5,940 (5,000), including 4,384 (3,444) on contract.
The Cabinet will also soon consider and make changes:
Part-time students whose work experience exceeds 5 years will have benefits up to and including free undergraduate/master's degrees. It is not yet known exactly what kind of work experience a citizen of Uzbekistan must have in order to qualify for these benefits, but the bill is under consideration and may be amended and supplemented.
